Well considering they did an entire special section for the inauguration, it's no surprise.

A lot of papers had special section including the New York Times. The Front page above fold is always the keeper for big events. Of the papers that I looked at the AJC is the only one without Obama as it's lead.

The inauguration section folded on top of the A section. In effect, the Bush story was the lead of the second section...as it should be.

When you see the paper in the stand, you see the Obamas.

I agree. The two papers I saw had Obama as the lead on the front AND the special section cover, with the special section more a keepsake with good photos, quotes, etc., and the 1A front the actual news. Bush was inside. Maybe AJC wanted to give Bush the proper respect, but if it was a Texas paper it'd be more understandable.

I agree. The two papers I saw had Obama as the lead on the front AND the special section cover, with the special section more a keepsake with good photos, quotes, etc., and the 1A front the actual news. The AJC's special section had the story, analysis, pictures, personal stories, and the text from Obama's speech.

I noticed there were a bunch more Wednesday papers left at local stores and businesses that evening. I imagine the sales were good, but I wonder if newspapers might have been better off not increasing the press run so much and taking about 1,000 extra papers and putting them on Ebay.
Somewhat disappointed to see the local paper put an advertiser's logo on top of the masthead as a presenter of the paper's special inaugural section. (In addition to the same advertiser's ad along the bottom footer.

Barack Hussein Obama II, the first African-American president in United States history, and perhaps the first non-white to lead a majority white country in the history of man, is somewhat popular in the United States and around the world.

I'm sorry Bush and the future leaders of the GOP- whether they be Sarah Palin or Bobby Jindal or Joe the Plumber or Chuck Norris or an inanimate carbon rod- aren't nearly this popular. Want some McDonald's?

Well, you could say the hed was talking about the specific Congressman, hence "Bulldog's" instead of "Bulldogs'."
