OK, the temperature in the shade 50 feet from my front door is 103, according to the wireless sensor and the AC is struggling to keep the house at a brisk 77 degrees.

I'm damn skippy not going out to BBQ and don't want to crank up the stove any more than I have to because I know the electric bill will be high enough as it is...

So... what's for dinner when it's too hot to cook and need to save money? Suggestions besides sammiches please?

I recommend a strictly liquid dinner

And make up your mind--are you damn skippy or slappy?

Hey, nothing goes better with August heat than a hearty meat stew.

I was going to cook, but **** that.

I'm taking the girl out for sushi.

And then I'm taking the woman I love to the backseat of my car. And I won't be back for TEN MINUTES!

JR had a good thread on this recently, it linked to an article on just this subject.

Thanks, Perry.
At least someone was paying attention. :)

I'm kinda partial to Dairy Queen's two double cheeseburgers for $3.33. When you throw in the fries it throws the total to just a little more than $5.

Whole BBQ chicken from the local grocery story and about 3 or 4 different types of salads are OK by me.

Actually, I remembered, but thought it was more -- what to cook quickly, than what to make when it's too damn hot

It's stuff to cook under ten minutes--which means you won't be sweating over a hot stove.

I mean, you can cook a fish fillet in no time at all.

However, Ms. Slappy is picky -- doesn't like Pizza or seafood, which wipes out much of the list, and can't handle anything spicy....
Looks like Mac and Cheese

She doesn't like Pizza. That's one of the four major food groups.
The others being beer, wine and scotch. :)

Swap scotch for Tennessee sippin whisky and I'm right there with you

Buy a TV dinner leave it on your car's dashboard with the windows rolled up.

It will be done by dinner.
