OK. Here's my night-before-Valentine's story, when my wife and I had a few hours to ourselves.

Went to check out the new World Market store that just opened. It's a definite "meh." We couldn't decide on what to do for dinner, so we just ended up at Smashburger. Another "meh." The place was dirty and understaffed and the SmashFries were really, really greasy.

Made a quick stop at a bookstore for Valentine's gifts for the kids, then went to pick up one kid from the house where the other kid is having a sleepover. Got fed up with the behavior of the little girl hosting the sleepover, so we came home. Everyone except me was asleep by 9.

Plans for tomorrow, the actual V-Day: A long run in the morning, nothing in the afternoon, and the misbehaving child from tonight's sleepover and her mom are coming over for dinner. It might be awkward, and I'll want them to leave a lot earlier than they actually will.

So I've got all that going for me, which is nice.

You have a lonely single mom coming to your house on Valentine's Day?

That's the dream, man. That's the dream!

Buy two bottles of white wine.

A girl decided to go out with my friend Jason... who grew up playing hockey... on Feb. 13 six years ago (it was a Friday) after meeting on Match.com and used the date as a "Screw You Valentines Day" date.

Their 3rd anniversary is this summer and they have an adorable 1-year-old daughter to boot. :)

Girlfriend has decided to cook leftovers Saturday, so we can go out Sunday when it is less crowded.

I bought my wife a Valentine's Day present two weeks ago (a Keurig), but she was home when it got delivered, so we've been using it since. She got me nothing (which I'm fine with because, frankly, I hate this holiday in general).

We were going to go to dinner tomorrow, but our 2-year-old is sick, so we bought some filet mignon and she's going to cook a fantastic meal tomorrow. I'll partake in a great bottle of wine with it (she's due March 9, so she'll be jealously watching me enjoy it).

Yeah, I wish. Lonely single mom has a boyfriend a thousand miles away, and all three kids will be in the house. I won't be that lucky.

I have Sinatra blasting right now. My lady is cooking me crepes -- savory AND sweet! Then tonight, we are going to get under the covers and watch a movie. I am exhausted from the week, but it doesn't get any better than this.

Drug the kids, get the lonely mom drunk, and then let her have her way with you.
