That they will be no different from a non-minority hire.

Why do you ask stupid questions? Serious answer, please.

Quick hide this thread before Fenian ******* and the rest of the bed-wetting, touchy feely crowd finds it and chastises you for being offensive and insensitive.

If I were the boss, I would expect everyone on my staff to work hard all the time, and I would expect them to use whatever skills they had to make the paper better.

It is a legitmate question. For example, when the identity of the Virginia Tech killer was found as Korean, papers automatically went to their Asian reporters to get stories. Is that the role those minorities are supposed to play in journalism?
Now that we've got the insults out of the way, serious answers please.

It's not a legitimate question completely out of context. Just asking what you'd expect out of an employee simply because he/she is black is subversively racist. It implies there are different standards for white people and minorities, almost like it's a bonus if the minority does his/her job well. And that is just ****ing stupid.

Did you really think that you were going to get an answer to that question the way you wrote your first post?

Clever, we're not picking a fight but that obviously happened with Va. Tech and it happens with other stories where race is concerned. Editors go to their minority reporters to get stories.

First off, who's "we"? Second, why didn't you provide the context? Why not ask what you want to ask, rather than asking a generalized idiotic question that you knew would **** people off? Why not actually, for once, you know, start an actual discussion and not just throw gasoline on the wall and see who drops the first match?
