WESTFIELD STATE COLLEGE SPORTS INFORMATION GRADUATE ASSISTANT
The Westfield State College athletics department is seeking applications for a graduate assistant in sports information. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Information. Westfield State is an NCAA Division III college and a member of the Massachusetts State College Athletics Conference (MASCAC). It is located 10 miles west of Springfield, Mass.
Duties: Writing feature and game stories, compiling statistics during games, athletics web site maintenance, photography, filing weekly reports with conference and national offices. This position will be given the responsibility of covering several of Westfield State's 21 intercollegiate programs. Weekend and evening work is required.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required and applicant must be accepted into a Westfield State master's degree program. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of sports, as well as strong organizational, written and verbal skills. Knowledge of computers (Web site, Stat crew, Photoshop, page design programs) is preferred.
This is an eight-month position, which begins Sept. 1, 2008, and includes graduate school tuition waiver and a stipend for two academic years.
