“The victim told officers her basketball coach was verbally abusing her after the team lost their game,” Fishers police spokesman Officer Tom Weger said. “She reported that during a verbal altercation he punched her in the face, threw her to the ground and got on top of her with his hands around her throat.”

When officers arrested Freeman afterward at a restaurant, he admitted to restraining the girl but claimed to have been the victim, Weger said. However, the parent of another player told officers she saw Freeman striking the victim.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess he didn't talk to reporters after the game...

You only cover us when the coach beats the crap out of players after the game.

I anxiously await Captain Hindsight's thoughts on this matter.

You should find some hobbies to entertain you while you wait for my insights. This may lessen your anxiety. Some gentlemen enjoy golf while I prefer jogging myself. As for the coach, he clearly should have coached the girls better. They would have won this game and whole ugly incident would have been avoided.

Is Myra Fleener still around in Hickory? Maybe he can hook up with her.

If the coach can fly off the handle like this after a game, I'm wondering what happens at home. And I wonder how often his daughter has said, "No, Daddy!" while he's beating the **** out of her.

Pure conjecture on my part, of course, but I can't imagine that's the first time he's lost his temper in such a physically violent way.
