buck, been trying to planning a road trip with a friend of mine. only problem is neither of us can find time to go.

Umm, you can always go by yourself. I've been to hundreds of games, concerts, movies and meals solo.

Pick an off day, buy a ticket, make a playlist and take a drive to Cincy. Have fun.

I'll be honest and say I don't go to bars, movies, restaurants, games, concerts, etc. by myself. It just makes me uncomfortable, plus I love to babble to people, so it is difficult to do so alone. I did go to a bar once by myself when I was traveling for my paper, it was interesting just sitting in the corner and observing.

But yeah, it is a bit weird that he's never been to a single professional sporting event.

Yeah, not the first time I've heard that -- I think some people are comfortable with being by themselves and some aren't.

But, depending on who's around, it's not always difficult to "babble" if you want. I've had plenty of conversations with random people at games and concerts. And plenty of events where I only said a word when I was ordering at the concession stand.

The key is, enjoy the experience no matter if you're with people or solo. If you're single, especially, you better learn to get out of the house by yourself or else you're never going to do anything. (And everybody's goes through it.)

When I was a kid, whenever I saw someone at a restaurant alone, I thought it was the saddest thing in the world. I was always asking my parents if the person could come and eat with us. They tried to explain to me that sometimes people want to eat alone, but it didn't compute in my little brain.

I've gotten phone numbers (and given mine out) while going to the local art house theater by myself. If I refused to do anything alone, I'd spend a lot of time bored in my house with my crappy days off. I don't do sporting events alone though. Drunk people annoy me even when I've got somebody there to distract me.

Oh, and tony, you should try grating edam cheese into your mashed potatoes.

There's few things I enjoy more than just hanging out by myself and listening to some good music. Whether it's driving in a car or just walking around, alone time can be nice. I, as well, love having conversations with random people at ball games. It's something I inherited from my dad.

Was supposed to go with a friend last season to Yankee Stadium before the end of the season, but it never worked out after he stepped on a knife one night and tore some ligaments in his foot.

I've been to a handful of minor league baseball games, but that's it.

I don't know that I've ever heard of edam cheese. I'll have to look into that.

They keep it with the gouda around here. Just make the potatoes the way you normally do, but when you add the butter and milk (or however you make them) add the cheese as well.
