So what does that do to the always empty (unless college teams are playing) Alltel Stadium.

Alltel Stadium hasn't been Alltel for a while. It's Jacksonville Municipal. Unless there's another Alltel out there.

I guess no company wanted to be associated with it.

Alltel Arena in Little Rock.

A white elephant if there ever was one. They hold two UA basketball games there and a few arena2 games a year, and that's it unless they luck out on an NCAA subregional like they did this spring, or the odd tractor pull or .38 Special concert.

Plus...it's Alltel Arena, sponsored by a wireless company...with no wireless internet. Unless that has changed in the past several months.

And VCU plays in the Alltel Pavilion at Siegel Center, or something like that. But they had wireless interbutt last time I was there.

I don't like Verizon, so I guess it's time to switch to AT&T. Prices are rumored to be dropping on the iPhone next week after the Apple developer's conference, so we'll see how that goes.

Which brings to mind one of my favorite commercials of yesteryear...
"You're not dealing with AT&T"
"Well I am now!"

Alltel Arena was the place where the NCAA blocked the local wireless signal during the tournament.
It forced the press guys to buy the NCAA access or file from their hotel, which is what many did.

So will there be a new ad with the dweeb who has Verizon on his shirt punching out Chad to take control?

He brought the 'chucks!

I used to have AT&T and recently switched to Alltel. So far, Alltel has been much better.

Wonder what this does to the Alltel sponsorship on Ryan Newman's NASCAR entry? The deal expires at the end of the year, so it may not matter.

On the other hand, this might give Newman a sponsor that actually offers cellular service at the site of 3 major NASCAR events a year (Alltel doesn't serve Daytona Beach).

Doesn't matter. If you don't have Sprint, you're not getting a call out of that infield on race days.
