And the latest Dumbass of the Week award goes to Private Second Class Travis King, who decided it'd be funny to go on a tour of the DMZ and play red rover with the North Koreans in Panmunjom.
He made it across the border. He did not make it back. He was arrested by North Korean soldiers and is being held by them.
I guess we have to make some sort of effort to get him back, but do we really want to?

US soldier held by North Korea after crossing border

According to CBS, Private King had passed through airport security in Seoul but somehow managed to leave the terminal and get on a tour of the border, from where he crossed over.
The American military has said he did so "wilfully and without authorisation".
An eyewitness on the same tour told CBS they had visited a building at the border site - reported by local media to be the truce village of Panmunjom - when "this man gives out a loud 'ha ha ha' and just runs in between some buildings".
"I thought it was a bad joke at first but, when he didn't come back, I realised it wasn't a joke and then everybody reacted and things got crazy," they said.

If we don't get him back all of the usual suspects will stomp around and complain that President Brandon doesn't care about the troops and "I'll bet he would be trying if it was Brittany Griner!" and the usual narratives.

I mean, what a colossal dumbass. Maybe he thinks it's a cute little stunt, but now Kim can flog this for all it's worth.

Yeah, but do we have anyone of theirs North Korea would want back?

I suspect we'll get Pvt. King back, comatose or near death.

We're all safe and cozy in our cities, towns, villages, hamlets, peck peck pecking away on this fun little message board ...

... and Private King, who was as free as a freebird before this stunt, is now having his toenails pulled off while having rusty pliers are being shoved up his anus.

Poster boy, in absentia, for this year's FAFO national convention.

Eh, screw him. If he’s that stupid then let NK have him. One less idiot in America’s gene pool.

I'm supposed to feel bad because he is a freaking idiot, who apparently WENT OUT OF HIS WAY to go into North Korea? Not gonna happen. You want this clown next to you in a fox hole?

Not at all.

Just saying how fast it can all change.

Just another dumbass who never faced consequences in his life up until now.
His parents always blamed the teachers, referees, cops, etc., and now he's going to find out Mommy Karen can't get him out of bind.
Get him back, and then let him spend the next 10 years at a nice little fort in Kansas before giving him a dishonorable.

“U.S. officials told CBS News the soldier in question was Private 2nd Class Travis King, who had been released from military detention in South Korea and was being escorted out of the country for disciplinary reasons.”
