There are currently two openings in southeast Kansas—The Chanute Tribune and the Fort Scott Tribune are both seeking “one-man show” sports editors.

Chanute is five days a week and the focus is on Chanute High School and Neosho County Community College. Email [email protected] to apply.

Fort Scott’s paper is now two days a week, with Fort Scott High School and Fort Scott Community College the primary focus of the job.

Email [email protected] to apply for the Fort Scott position.

Fort Scott thought they found a guy but he found a way to skip out on the first day of work and got canned. So that's open again.

Chanute has been looking since June.

Workers are ghosting their employers like bad dates

Economists report that workers are starting to act like millennials on Tinder: They’re ditching jobs with nary a text.

“A number of contacts said that they had been ‘ghosted,’ a situation in which a worker stops coming to work without notice and then is impossible to contact,” the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago noted in December’s Beige Book, which tracks employment trends.

I'm sure this a real thing. I'm also sure someone involved in this article - not especially the writer - has some scars, if you're using the term "ghosting."

Fort Scott had another guy turn them down. At least this time, he had the courtesy to do so before he agreed to work there.

Both papers are still looking. Best suited probably for a guy fresh out of college or maybe someone who thinks he's ready to be the decision maker. Both are one-man staffs.

Dan Whelan is a good example.
