Good Saturday morning, America! Look what we found!

Sincerely, The National Hurricane Center

8 a.m. advisory: 21.1 N, 85.3 W. Or, sitting in between Cuba and Honduras.

And the really fun part? It's coming to my house next week! :-\

Re: Tropical depression #1

Yeah, but this has a more attention-getting thread title.

(And I get to change it at will, so when it becomes Tropical Storm Alberto running thread this afternoon it will be even more attention getting. I just hope it doesn't become the Hurricane Alberto has destroyed my house running thread.)

Threadjack: Great user-name edit, _Bat. It ain't easy to find that character on the keyboard.

Also: This is a much better thread title. I'm in the cone, too. I'm rooting for it; we need the rain.

So do we. But not the wind.

It appears we'll get some of both. :'(

Re: Tropical depression #1

We won't get what you got, Johnny.

Second advisory (1100 EDT): 21.5N, 85.6W. Moving north-northwest at 12mph with winds at 35 or so. The hurricane hunters will make a flyby this afternoon.

2mcm, what JD said. though it's only a depression right now, it's awfully early in the season. Hopefully this isn't a sign of what's to come.

Nope, there's one about to hit Edmonton tonight.

Re: Tropical depression #1

oh, FINE, we'll use this one.

NHC doesn't think it'll be a strong storm -- it can't seem to decide on a circulation center -- but it'll take a Wilma-like path, only closer to the East Coast, so rain for everyone!

Re: Tropical depression #1

Oh boy. More rain.
And not even Jim Cantore.

Fene, here's the deal: We need the rain desperately. As noted by one of the weathercasters tonight (I was at dinner, there was beer, scallops and shrimp, and I didn't catch who it was or which station), this could be a perfect drought-buster without actually tearing up the landscape.

I hope.

Bad news: Hurricane season off to quick start again.
Good news: More Stephanie Abrams.

No wonder evacuation from New Orleans didn't go as planned. Everyone turned to The Weather Channel and thought a warm front was moving through.
