3. Willie McCovey is correct, in 1973 and again in 1977.

4. The last AL pitcher to get a base hit before the DH was Larry Gowell of the New York Yankees on 10/4/72.

He pitched in two games at the end of that season, his only major-league appearances. His base hit came in his only at-bat, so he's a career 1.000 hitter.
