Anything is what you make it. This place, that place, any place. This place was basically my Twitter until Twitter.
I'm not leaving Twitter, professionally that's not yet advisable, but if a better option comes up? I'll go to it without hesitation. I look at it like as I would any other product. I loved my couch I had for 15 years, lotta memories, but when we got something better? No turning back.
I too have met people through Twitter and have some memories of a kind, but at the end of the day? It's a ****ing app. These days, the only reason I have any adherence to it is professional obligation and boredom.
None of that takes into account that Musk likely bought Twitter to wreck it, is doing a great job of it if he did, and lords over it like we're his vassals. I don't want to support his megalomania just because he landed on 3rd-and-1/2 base and thinks he's a genius, when in fact, he's a lot closer to Wile E. Coyote Super Genius. **** him.
Got a Bluesky account. Shame they're taking so long to get off the ground. It is a going-back-in-time version of Twitter ... in good ways.
Shouldn't there be some app that posts to multiple social media sites with a single action?
Hootsuite did that when my job included social. No idea if the API changes ruined that.Shouldn't there be some app that posts to multiple social media sites with a single action?
Threads is a ****ing mess. I was forced to use it when my Twitter account got ****ed up for almost two weeks. You can use it on PCs now, but in terms of a feed, it's incoherent, it gives you things you don't want. A pale imitation of Twitter, and of course, the person you're getting into bed with there isn't much better than dip**** Musk.
I'm happy with Bluesky and willing to invest some time to try to grow an audience there. Not many people on it, but it's basically pre-ads, pre-paid-for-bells and whistles Twitter with a feed that makes sense. I can get behind that, even if I have basically no followers there yet.
When Musk finally does **** up Twitter for good, I'm happy I have an alternative.
Bluesky is OK, but I suppose it's ironic that I don't like the echo chamber nature of it even though I'm aligned w/everyone I'm following thus far. With Twitter, I'm following enough people so that it's not all doom and gloom about the state of society today (which to be fair warrants lots of doom and gloom). But everyone I'm following at Bluesky has been run off by Musky Boy and his Nazis and is in a perpetual cycle of misery. It's weird. I hope it works out b/c Musky Boy is going to tank that **** sooner than later.
Oh ****. BYH is on Bluesky? I take back everything I said.![]()
