Anybody still in Phx., looking for something a little different and away from generic Scottsdale:
Pizza AMANO Bistro
1541 E. Baseline (Phoenix, not TEMPE baseline), near the South Mountains.
My aunt and uncle own it. Excellent eclectic food, amazing wine selection. Every single person who serves you -- waitress, chef, bus boy -- will be related to me. On Friday's they have good blues bands. Tell them I sent you (sports reporter in NY, they'll figure it out, maybe even admit they know me) and they'll no doubt give you free drink or desert (all homemade).
It can't be missed; surrounded by desert, decorated in Christmas lights year round.
