I searched and didn't see this anyway yet. Please delete if needed.

Anyway ...

Dean Parisot is set to direct a remake of Slap Shot for Universal Pictures. According to Variety, Peter Steinfeld is writing the screenplay, which will be based on the classic 1977 hokey comedy.

The original film followed the exploits of a fading hokey coach (played by Paul Newman) who decides to turn his team into a group of brawling thugs to generate some interest in them. In recent years, the original film has spawned two direct-to-DVD sequels. But this new film will have no ties to those past projects.

There is no set start date for the Slap Shot redo, but the Hanson brothers, who starred in the first film, will more than likely have a cameo.

I weep for when they decide to remake "Major League" in my lifetime.

In a (recent) past issue of The Hockey News, Steve Carell said that he'd like to be in a remake. Carell as Denis Lemieux?

Too old...

What is "hokey"? "Slap Shot" contained some hockey.

I for one can't wait. I mean, have you guys heard about the Karate Kid remake? That sounds so awesome that this, clearly, has to be good.

BTW, I felt blue font was not needed.

The Hanson brothers have had their 15 minutes. Please let them go gently unto that good night.

No remake of Slap Shot. For bringing up the topic, Carell is hereby sentenced to be thrown through a high window.

Or at least sentenced to playing "Lady of Spain," at least until Reg walks by to rip up the sheet music and takes a puck upside the head.

**** that. I don't want Carell anywhere near anything reminiscent of Slap Shot. I don't even want him renting the DVD from NetFlix.

How anyone can have the effing effrontry to look to remake 99.47% perfection for thirty pieces of silver is beyond me.

Before this turns into Epic Slap Shot Quote-Off No. 59, where did the original news item come from?
