Yes, it's time for The Open Championship Pool, but this time I'm doing things a little different. The format will stay close to what we did with the U.S. Open pool (hopefully, though, more people will make the cut). The major change is that there's now an educational aspect to the pool. Yes class, it's time to learn about Carnoustie, Scotland.
Upon endless nights of research on Wikipedia, I concluded that Carnoustie has the following: golf, haggis and sheep. There's not a lot I can teach you about those things, but then I came across this pearl of knowledge.
So, blessed with that new knowledge, I decided to use the pool to honor Carnoustie's most famous bisexual b-list actor alum. Each of the pools of golfers will be named in honor of Alan Cumming movies or TV shows. Enjoy!
Here's a quick rundown of the rules:
1. Each team must pick one player from each of the four pools and two wild-card selections to create a team of six players. No more than two players can come from the X2 Pool (Pool A).
2. Scoring: Each round, a team's score will comprise of the scores of its four lowest golfers. At the end of four rounds, the team will the lowest four round total wins. No playoff scores will be counted.
3. If any team loses more than two of its players for any reason (cut, DQ, injury, WD), it is disqualified.
4. Teams must be submitted no later than 1:30 a.m. ET Thursday, July 19.
5. If a player withdraws from competition prior to the start of The Open, that team may replace said player only prior to the tournament's start.
6. Tiebreaker: This time around, I want you to post what you think your team's score will be for the four rounds. In case of a tie, the player closest to his/her predicted score wins. FYI, par at Carnoustie is 71, so par for the pool will be 1136.
Pools will be announced momentarily.

Actor Alan Cummings attended Carnoustie High School although not living in the town itself.
