I appreciate that they include stats on the ballot. But the limited stats they provide are dumb, and do not reflect how players are evaluated in 2017.

Give me slash line, PAs, and SB/CS.

I preferred the punch-out versions I would pick up at games that only had a player's name, team and position on them. It was so easy just to pick all of the Braves at each position.

Remember, the median age of the All-Star voter is like 10. They're just learning stats. Also, the ballot would be like 75 pages long if they dipped into the fielding evaluation wars.

I never did the online ballot so I don't know how this varies from previous years.

It's usually the guys voted in as part of a team marketing effort, like when the Royals put four starters in the 2015 game.

That, and the players on teams with better home attendance. This is why Mookie Betts will be a starter this year.
