10 years later and I still cannot believe the logic Jay Dunn used for keeping Rickey Henderson off his Hall of Fame ballot ... because Rickey, after being pulled, went into the clubhouse and read the rest.

To me, this one tops the list sports-wise. What whacked decisions have flummoxed you over the years?

BTW, Jay Dunn is a good guy, always a hoot to talk baseball with.

The tee shot says "Hold my beer."
In no universe do you hit driver there in that spot.

The decision that some grumpy asshole, who delighted in being a baseball-writing grumpy asshole, made to go ahead and put Mariano Rivera on their HOF ballot.

There's always that one grumpy asshole who leaves Nolan Ryan or Ken Griffey Jr. off their ballot.

Not at all saying it was a bad decision. Just wondering the thought process that melted the Baseball Grinch's heart that one day.

I don't disagree, but that shot didn't screw him. It was the next two, where he tried to be a hero on each.

Agree.
He hit the tee ball so far right, with the angle he had, he had to hit it right of the green. The incredibly unlucky part was the ball hitting the edge of the stands and kicking straight back off the edge of the burn into waist deep hay. It stays in the stands, free drop, up and down for 4. The Golfing Gods said "We don't think you deserve that."
The third shot was probably the worst shot he hit on the entire hole. The tee shot was the dumbest.
When I go back and watch that, I still giggle at Rosburg, Strange and Tirico.
Curtis still said it best. "This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen."
I still wish he would have hit it from the water.

Not giving the ball to Marshawn Lynch on the goal line.

Not letting Baker Mayfield try to win the Rose Bowl late

Leaving Kerahaw in too long.

Not waving Gordon home in game seven against the giants.

Farve Not throwing that ball into Saints traffic.

Black athlete wants to play, and is mad when he is pulled out of the game and lashes out. This is bad.

Hall of Fame white manager forgets about the start of the game while talking to a reporter, and we think this is colorful and cute.

Still just staggering when you think about it. And while it obviously worked out, Hoodie’s decision not to use a TO there was awful.

You two prolly dont want to look at the other thread.

Women voting for trump.

90 percent of the management decisions at newspapers in the past 25 years.

Bruce Jenner marrying a kardashian.

Oh wait, you are looking for sports stuff.

Lasorda having Niedenfuer pitch to Clark.
Chris, I was at Marching Mizzou practice at Missouri that afternoon. Several of us had radios (clearly weren't paying close attention at band practice).

We went nuts.

Colin K having to take a time out because they couldn’t get the play off, and the game winning play was called.

I was sitting in left field and the ball went over my head. He hit the **** out of it. I was friends with Niedenfuer and I knew that he had nothing left. Lasorda could never manage a bullpen. Niedenfuer was getting 3-inning saves in blowout wins. His arm was a rag by the end of the season.
