We go to an annual 4th of July church picnic in my parents hometown in rural Pennsyltucky.
This picnic had been on-going since WWII and they have a beer stand (God Love Catholics!).
It is the creme de la creme of cheap/****ty beers.
No Bud. No Bud Light.
Genesee Cream Ale. Natty Light (No Pennsyltucky shindig is complete with it). Coors Light. Strohs or MGD and Yuengling (No light!) for the fancy townies.
All cans.

I recall a parish fish fry in the Midwest that was so good there was a long line out the door.

Never ones to miss a fundraising/drinking opportunity, the parish sold cans of Busch Lite for $1 to those waiting in line, to spur the appetite for fried fish.

Rolling Rock is sold everywhere now in my neck of the woods, a happy hour cheapie. It used to be a great cruising beer when it came in 7-ounce pony bottles in the 12-beer box. No littering, no empties rolling around inside the car.

Pints of Rainier for $1 at one place in Microville. PBR still the favorite of Portland hipsters.

Wasn't Strohs the first to go to 30 packs?

I remember 8-packs in bottles. Cruise with three other people and everybody got two each. Fire brewed!

I've made the rounds with a lot of those. Bud was my go-to beer and then it started giving me headaches. Switched to Stroh's and after a while the same thing. Ditto Rolling Rock. I haven't had that happen with Yuengling or PBR yet.

Not beer (sorry), but I saw cases of Zima at Kroger the other day. Instant flashbacks to college circa 1994. Everyone tried that stuff at first, then it was the cool thing to say you didn't drink it -- though you'd quietly use it as a mixer.

There are times when I question how much of a journalism board SJ still is. Then we get a quality post like Buck's. And that kerning stuff. All great.

If you were just hanging with guys the Zima was pretty much unacceptable. But if girls wanted Zima and there was no more Crazy Horse or Yuenglings left, it was OK to have a Zima. Kind of like in Superbad when Evan said he would get Kyle's Killer Lemonade for Jules.

It isn't on the list ... but being a Chicago-area native, I have to put in a"good" word for Old Style. Went into one of my home town's local dives during my first return to the area in years and ordered one for old times sake -- and damned if it wasn't bad. Was the first beer I ever drank (stolen bottle from the parents' refrigerator) and first one I got drunk on in high school around '75 or so. That stuff was about the only beer we drank in high school.

Bronco, I too consumed my share of Old Styles. The following ad mentions "krausening," which I have heard as a synonym for "plastered." As in, "He's fully krausened tonight!"

For NY-NJ, one not on that list is Rheingold. Not 100% sure, but think in late 80s-early 90s case of Rheingold or Schaeffer was $8 or $9.

I used to think Strong's was the worst beer I had ever had until I was in a dive in New York last summer and they had big cans of PBR on special. Managed to choke one back. I wouldn't wash the car with that ****

Genesee Cream Ale on tap was a go-to at a local I frequented in a previous stop, though I think I enjoyed the free popcorn and cheap pickled eggs more than the actual drinking. Grain Belt is decent, but I strongly recommend their Nordeast if you're ever in Minnesota. That said, my first-choice cheap beer is Molson Canadian.

They have 30 packs of Hamms at my local store here for $14.

When I lived in the Pacific Northwest, Hamms, Olympia and Rainier were in the rotation when ****ty beer was all I could afford.

At a sports bar for the first time in years and the domestics menu lists locations of beers. Was shocked to see PBR listed as being from Los Angeles.
