That's hot

We're not too far from D.C., and when I walked out of the house today, it literally felt like someone threw a wet blanket on me. The humidity is as bad as any I've experienced, and I've spent my share of stifling summer days next to oceans and gigantic lakes. Luckily, our plucky A/C unit kicks ass.

Well, thank you, Roosevelt. What's the weather like out there?

It's hot! Damn hot! Real hot! Hottest things is my shorts. I could cook things in it. A little crotch pot cooking.

Well, tell me what it feels like.

Fool, it's hot! I told you again! Were you born on the sun? It's damn hot! It's so damn hot, I saw little guys, their orange robes burst into flames. It's that hot! Do you know what I'm talking about?

What do you think it's going to be like tonight?

It's gonna be hot and wet! That's nice if you're with a lady, but ain't no good if you in the jungle!

Thank you, Roosevelt.

"First of all, don't make fun of the weather here, and don't say the weather is the same all the time here. Because it's not. In fact, it's two degrees colder today than yesterday."

"Two degrees colder, me without my muff."

Is this the part where I do a snarky post about how climate change is very real?

Because whenever there's a cold snap, the climate change deniers come out of the woodwork to make their ignorant-ass snarky jokes.

I kind of think the "heat index" and the "wind chill factor" are bs.

It's always humid when it's hot -- at least where I live -- and it's always windy when it's cold.

Speaking from practical experience, if it's -35C and calm, you can be out and about outside safely as long as you dress warmly. If there's even a 10 mph wind, it's dangerous as hell to be out there.

Well, you'd hate to help end that tradition...

In my neck of the woods it's been above 85 once I think this summer. We just had (another) week of clouds and rain. What is this thing called summer?

90 and 90 sucks but after 10 months of La Nina crap I'd take it for a day or two just to finally warm up.

Pretty sure climate's been changing since the planet's debut.

Pretty sure man has been ruining the environment ever since he started tossing dinosaur ribs in the back of the cave.

So, 100 always feels the same and so does 10.

I've been in 100 in Vegas and know 90 in Louisiana well. I'll take the 100 in Vegas any day of the week. At least when you stand in the shade, it gets cooler. In humid hot, it just gets darker.

Out running errands. Every time I walk from one air-conditioned building to another, I'm reminded of the journey a pizza takes on one of those conveyor-belt ovens.

The A/C on the train I'm on is working but not well. Three cars have no A/C, including business class. I feel an occasional blast of cold air but the rest of the time it's more feeble. I was hoping for a deliciously cold train.

100.3 in Central Virginia, heat index of 123 according to WeatherUnderground.com.

It's so hot in Richmond, I am considering NOT taking my daughter to a water park tomorrow.

God help you if you're in Stafford, VA. Temperature of 99 + dew point of 86 = heat index of 133.

Don't look at "humidity" readings ... the dew point lets you know how miserable it is. And a dew point of 86 is off-the-charts miserable.

If I recall, earlier this week, the dew point was 80-plus in Chicago, and when the wind finally blew in off Lake Michigan, it cooled the air enough that the temp was the same as the dew point. Result: thick fog along the shoreline that forced lifeguards to close the beaches, because they couldn't see swimmers.

Today? I'll be kind and not talk about the weather here in the Pacific Northwest ...

The Weather Channel ap says it is now 107 degrees in Baltimore. The crabs now come out of the bay pre-steamed
