The judge in the Omagh bomb trial has said he will deliver his verdict on Thursday.
Sean ***y, 38, from Jonesborough, County Armagh denies a total of 56 charges, including the murders of 29 people killed in the 1998 bombing.
His trial at Belfast Crown Court lasted for 56 days and ended in January.
The prosecution case against Mr ***y hinges on DNA evidence, but this has been robustly challenged by his defence team who believe it is unreliable.
What is widely thought of as one of the worst single day terrorist acts in Northern Ireland may finally come to a close.

If you would like to read up on this tragedy, you can find the information at Wikipedia.org rather easily.

Absolute ****ing atrocity of the worst kind.
And the worst thing that happened to the Republican cause since they hung Robert Emmet. Turned every bit of moderate Republican opinion forever against the Provos and the Real IRA thugs. Probably hastened the peace process, but an awful price to pay for that.

Well, millions died for peace in WWII. Bottom line I bet you thought that was too awful a price. But you wouldn't blame any of that on Hitler. Maybe you do, but then you wouldn't blame this on a madman in the Middle East. You really think it's Bush.

Fact is, any price is a hard price to pay, but unfortunately, it happens.

Preserved for posterity.

The Omagh bombing was a terrorist act. Nothing was gained. It is also recognized that a BBC special on this terrorist attack was met with a second terrorist act. Again, nothing positive was gained.

Well, let's cower to the terrorist. Let's let Osama have a one hour sermon time in the mornings on your favorite syndication network because if we don't, we might have a terrorist attack. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Yeah, and that's why hockey support sucks in America.

Go north, young men, go north.

Wasn't Yawn going back and forth between this board and a Christmas party a few nights ago?

And admitted it, unironically, to prove he was a "fun guy?"

Few of us will ever meet a bigger douchebag in real life.

Osama? He's still out there, isn't he?

Care to tell us why?

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Funny, coming from the party that perfected the saying, "There is nothing to fear, but EVERYTHING!"

The real panic in the liberals is that the new muscle in Afghanistan with Iraq stabilizing is going to result in Osama's death right about election time, November, 2008.

Have you been under a rock?? Afghanistan is falling apart, and has been ever since we diverted men and materiel to fight the needless war in Iraq.

But back to the original thread topic...for anyone who doesn't know about Omagh, I would recommend the film by the same name that came out a few years back.

No, but you're under one now...it was just noted earlier this week that troops are being shifted from Iraq to Afghanistan now, with the Iraqi situation stabilizing.
