I thought it'd be kind of cool to make a poll now, see what everybody's prediction is of the Super Bowl winner and how those votes pay off once a title is determined.

Of all the teams that failed to reach the playoffs last season, I wonder who has the best odds in Vegas (or wherever else you care to gamble)? Giants? Cowboys? Steelers? Bears? Saints? Someone else?

Not hard to find out.

If I had to project the playoff teams, I'd go somewhere like this

AFC division champs: Patriots, Steelers, Colts, Broncos... Wild card: Texans and Ravens
NFC division champs: Cowboys, Packers, Panthers, Niners... Wild card: Falcons and Seahawks

Colts over Packers in the Super Bowl.

So, wait, are all the other teams listed? There's 31 teams and "other" so "other" is essentially Denver? You want to have "other" in there but left only one choice?
I didn't think it could get any worse.

Fine. I fixed it. Denver is now a choice.

Ignore the silly poll, post your choice here.

Gimme perennial under-achiever Houston.

They're cursed, just like the team that preceeded them.

I'd take a winner coming from a group of maybe 6-8: 49ers, Packers, Falcons in the NFC. Patriots, Broncos, Texans and possibly Steelers in the AFC. I suspect the Ravens (along with the Colts, Redskins, Vikings and Seahawks) will slide back a little in a parity-driven league. Bears could be a surprise, maybe the Rams as well.

The thing that sells the NFL is that about 25-30 teams or so head to training camp with a realistic vision of at least winning their division and making a playoff run. That's a far greater percentage of the whole than any other pro league and it keeps the fan interest bubbling.

Who is going to run the ball on the Steelers? Seriously?

The Ravens will backslide, but not for the reason everyone thinks. Their defense will actually be better. But they are one more injury away on offense from being in major trouble. The quarterback will be decent, but I bet someone on their line goes down (or Ray Rice) and he's running for his life. The Bengals will be the surprise winner of the division, then get housed in the playoffs.

Pats win their division by default.

Aaron Rodgers wins another MVP.

49ers just miss the playoffs when Kaepernick misses five games with an ankle sprain.

Saints go on a FU Tour of the NFC, but lose in a shootout in the title game to Green Bay.

Houston over Green Bay.

Need to wait a couple of weeks until one of the favorites loses their QB to an ACL in an exhibition game.

Who wins the Super Bowl this year?

The Ravens won the Super Bowl this year. I don't know who will win it next year. Let me think about it.

Nicely done.

You expected otherwise?
