One of the leading predictors of hurricane activity is Sea Surface Temperatures (SST), because warm seas provide more heat energy to help hurricanes start and grow. A just-published study by the TSR team in England found that sea surface temperature "has a large effect," according to Dr. Adam Lea, lead author of the study.
