Description:
The Goldsboro News-Argus is searching for the ideal sports writer. We cover a wide array of local high school and community sports across Wayne County, North Carolina, as well as the University of Mount Olive and NCAA Division II sports. We are also seeking to grow our outdoorsman platforms to include hunting, fishing and recreation.
Experience with Quark or InDesign is a plus, but candidates with a strong background in sports writing will be considered. We are six-day, daily newspaper with a budding digital presence and an opportunity for growth into surrounding counties.
Goldsboro is home to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, is centrally located between Raleigh and the coast and is currently experiencing growth in the downtown area as far as restaurants, nightlife and the arts.
We are looking for a team player, competent in video and digital media and capable of finding the story within the story. We go well beyond the sidelines and look not only at the coaches and athletes but at the parents, teachers and communities that support them.
Send a cover letter, resume and three writing examples to the editor, John Joyce, at [email protected].
