Washingtonpost.com is seeking a full-time Web producer to help publish sports news and features online. This is an entry-level position in the washingtonpost.com newsroom, reporting to the Sports Editor. The job demands the highest attention to detail, demonstrated professional news judgment, an ability to respond quickly and effectively to high-pressure breaking news situations, and strong collaboration and communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Producing and enhancing sports articles from The Washington Post and wire services.
-Editing, producing online-only content
-Research, caption writing and production for photos, photo galleries
-Contributing to the planning and production of special projects
-Contributing to daily newsroom planning meetings
The person who fills this position may also be expected to occasionally perform other duties in support of washingtonpost.com’s overall news coverage. Must be willing to work nights and/or weekends.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
-Demonstrated understanding of Sports news.
-Facility with online editing and publishing tools, and ability to adapt quickly to changing industry.
-Strong news judgment and attention to detail.
-Good work ethic and self-starting attitude.
