It's the victim of too many shows with the same format. I still watch it if I remember, but it was appointment television for me as recently as 5 years ago. Now, there are 10 shows/segments a day on ESPN alone which have the same format.

Having said that, I watched the parting shots yesterday and was shocked that Albom pimped for his movie -- usually that's Saunders' job.

They gave it a little plug last week, too. I didn't see yesterday's, so I don't know how much play he gave it -- though being a topic of a parting shot sounds like pretty big play -- but last week's was a congratulatory thing from Saunders.

I grew up watching this show. I'd make a point to get up early, shower and make breakfast before sitting down at 10 a.m. I didn't want to miss a word.

During my first semester in college, my roommate and I had a rabbit ears TV. So I'd roll out of bed every Sunday morning at 9:30 (I think) and take the elevator upstairs to watch Sports Reporters. Just like you, I couldn't imagine missing a word. And I was completely awake for it, no matter how little sleep I got the night before.

I can't even comprehend that now. I think the last time I watched it I was in a hotel with limited cable and there was nothing but informercials and TSR on at 4:30 am.

What a shame.

Also saw bits and pieces of One More Day and fail to understand what all the buzz was about. A guy growing up hating his mother because his dad took off, only to learn that his dad was the problem. I've seen better work on those Hallmark card ads.

rip albom all you want..but the short jokes are not very funny anymore...i am not being pc..its just i laughed the first 2500 times i heard them the last 15 years...the shamless plug should not have been allowed....but what do you expect from a show that spent 5 mintues talking about barry bonds again and nothing on the huge detroit-florida trade or the santana stuff.....god dammit,why do so many people think america cares about bonds...
