The Junction City Daily Union in Junction City, Kansas is in search of a passionate, driven, energetic and outgoing individual to join its award-winning news team as a sports reporter.
The sports reporter is responsible for covering all Junction City area sports at the youth, prep and college levels. Junction City is home to a variety of youth and middle school sports, as well as Junction City High School, a 6A Kansas High School with a full array of athletic sports, and St. Xavier Catholic School a small, private school with volleyball, basketball and track. The Daily Union also occasionally covers athletics at Chapman High School, a 4A-II school.
In addition to youth and prep sports in the Junction City/Chapman areas, the Daily Union also covers college sports at Kansas State University and the Junction City Brigade, a summer collegiate baseball team. Area outdoor fishing and hunting coverage is also a possibility.
The successful candidate will be expected to write game stories, enterprising features and columns, take photos and design pages.
