This is not quite for journalists, but thought some here might be interested.
The company that runs baseball-reference.com, pro-football-reference.com, basketball-reference.com and (soon-to-be) hockey-reference.com is searching for summer interns to do computer programming for its sites.
I've never worked for Sean Forman (founder of B-R.com), but I would highly recommend it. He's good people.

Do You Know your JS, SQL, and DOM from your OPS, QB Rating, and PER?
Sports Reference LLC located in Philadelphia, PA is searching for summer interns to do computer programming for our popular sports statistics sites: Baseball-Reference.com, Pro-Football-Reference.com, Basketball-Reference.com, and Hockey-Reference.com (coming this spring).
A highly qualified candidate will
* have an excellent command of written and spoken English,
* have a permanent legal right to work in the United States,
* have top notch programming skills with at least some computer science coursework (and have an interest in learning new languages),
* know HTML, SQL, and the basics of database-backed website design,
* have at least a passing knowledge of CSS, JS and AJAX programming,
* have a history of getting things done (and done well), and
* love sports.
Sports Reference sites run on a LAMP (Perl) stack, and while experience with Perl is a bonus, it is not a hard requirement.
This isn't a data entry job. You will be producing production code and bringing new features to life on sites that are used by a million users each month including front office personnel, sports agents, and top sports writers.
These openings are paid internships ($750/week) running from May or June to August or September of 2008, depending on your availability. Sports Reference is a small company with just 2.5 employees that is growing and planning to expand, so your work will be highly visible and have a definite impact.
To apply please send an e-mail to [email protected] explaining why you want the job and think you would be a good fit, and attach your resume including at least three references whom we have your permission to contact. Please include links to any website work you've done that might be applicable. PDF, Text, HTML, or Word preferred. Use the same address for questions about the position. We will begin reviewing applications on March 5th and will continue until positions are filled.
Sports Reference LLC does not discriminate in employment decisions on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, military service eligibility, veteran status, marital status, disability, membership in any other protected classes, or on the basis of sports franchise preferences.
