how much sleep do you get a night? do you want or need more? does lack of sleep have an impact on your life or do you just shrug it off as the cost of living in these times? if you're a little older, do you need less or more sleep than when you were younger?

i'm in bed for about seven hours a night and probably get about six hours of sleep. i wish i could get more. lack of sleep is definitely a problem for me but i don't know how to change it. i need less sleep than when i was a teenager or in my 20s. for me, an ideal night's sleep is seven hours. eight or nine is awesome. any more than that and i'm probably a grump the rest of the day.

Sleep?

What's that??

Seriously, I don't require much sleep. Six hours is plenty, any more than that and I feel worn out as if I didn't sleep at all.

I'm prone to insomnia.
These days I've been getting six to seven hour consistently, which is great for me.

Six hours on average. some nights it'll be four or five hours depending on when work ends and when getting the kids ready for school begins.

On Sundays, though, I like to take a long nap.

Six to seven. Some nights four or five, some nights eight or nine. I'm usually fine.

Who needs sleep?
well you're never gonna get it
Who needs sleep?
tell me what's that for
Who needs sleep?
be happy with what you're getting
There's a guy who's been awake
since the Second World War

My hands are locked up tight in fists
My mind is racing, filled with lists
of things to do and things I've done
Another sleepless night's begun

At least 8 hours a night, preferably 10.

I'd prefer nine. My sleep cycle is in three hour cycles, so as long as I have a mulitple of three I'm OK. Normally, I sleep six hours a night, but if I sleep five or seven, I'm not a happy morning person.

Hmmm ... could have fooled me. ;)

I don't know what you're talking about. I plead the fifth.

I have a hard time getting to sleep and staying asleep. Always have. Melatonin helps when I use it.

It depends on when I go to bed. I usually don't get in bed until 2, and even then I stay awake until 3:30 or 4.

Most nights I'll go to bed at 3:30ish and get up around 12:30 or 1 in the afternoon. I'm usually good to go then, but some days (like today) I don't feel like doing much of anything. The only things I did today was looked for apartments and emailed a few people I work with and talked to sportschick. I just didn't feel well this afternoon when I got up...I don't know what was wrong.

I like night sex, not morning sex. I prefer morning head. Then I don't have to worry about my breath being bad.

The risk, of course, is that if my ladyfriend has already had breakfast, my penis sometimes ends up smelling like Frankenberry.

I suffer from the same problem.
Even times like recently, when I'm sleeping within a fairly regular pattern, I wake up frequently.
I read.
If I'm in a good sleeping cycle, I'll fall back asleep in a half hour.
If I'm in a bad sleeping cycle, I'll read the rest of the night/morning.

And you're finding companionship ... where?

:D

In the grocery store, dummy, next to the sugared cereals.

If I get to sleep in, a day where I don't have to be in until about 11 a.m. or so i ususally get aabout 8 hours. When I have to be at 7 or 8 a.m. I usually only get about 3 if I'm lucky because of writting on deadline and gettting up for early production.

I'm a terrible sleeper. I try to make up for lost sleep with naps, but those are hard to come by, too.
