I just got the alert across my iPad. I always get nervous with anything involving an airport this time of year. I don't know why, but the day after Halloween almost always sees the terror alert ratchet up considerably.

LAT: Gunman in custody. TSA agent was shot and there are "multiple" injuries.

Crazy stuff. I live in L.A. and found out about this on Facebook, because a friend was in the terminal waiting for a Virgin flight to Mexico when the shots were fired. She and her friend apparently ran out a jet bridge and out onto the tarmac when they heard the shots, then hid behind a bus. Eventually some buses took them and others who had run onto the tarmac to another terminal.

She was basically posting about it in real time.

Actor Tim Daly was being interviewed on CNN about this. Seems the first-class lounge he was in was near the shooting site.

Also, Esquire's Charlie Pierce happened to be in LAX at the time too.

Yes, I'm just going to can the speculation as they sort things out. My apologies.

In press conference they just held, they said the guy essentially shot his way through the security checkpoint to get into the terminal.
