Gill was the best pure athlete I ever saw live from press row when I covered a Mizzou-Illini game at the old Arena in St. Louis. He seemed to float up and down the court, effortless. It didn't translate into an All-Star, Hall of Fame NBA career, but he was the **** in college.

It seemed like every time he dunked, he dunked with the left hand, and he punched it off someone's head, a lot of times, his own.
