Nice avatar, BB.

Are your ankles broken, a la Brady, from jumping off the bandwagon?
No, I still love the Pats and will always be a fanboi. Giants played a fantastic game. But the season's over. Pitchers and catchers will be reporting soon, I have tickets for opening day at Fenway, and will be there celebrating the '07 series win.

Already giving up on the Celtics?

Sorry that I wanted something a little more relevant than Simpsons characters. ;)

**** Drago or Bill Lee would have impressed me more.

What an asinine thread topic. Yes, the team that went 66-14 over the past five seasons, with a Hall of Fame QB still in his prime, a coach with three Super Bowl wins and which plays in the league's weakest division, is going to unravel, all because they came 35 seconds short of a perfect season. OK.

buh, buh ... a team that only picked up Moss, Welker, Stallworth, and A. Thomas last year will have to find some free agents ... they're doomed. No one wants to play for them.

True. But he was mute in the AFC playoffs.

And it really hindered the passing game in the Jacksonville game. He was taken away in the SD game, I'll grant that, but he was still a factor in the playoffs simply by his presence, and by what looked like the Super Bowl winning TD.

Dude... this going to mentally work them over.

They'll win the AFC East, but the downturn has begun.

The Pats will never use that Number 7 pick. Given that the biggest needs are linebacker and secondary, and with Laurinaitis not coming out, they'll trade down, unless Chris Long or Darren McFadden is still around (unlikely).
There are no top 10-worthy DBs or LBs out there.

This might be a good time to point out that Tom Brady was a sixth-round draft pick.

True. QBs, and RBs are crapshots in the draft, but the other positions are pretty safe picks.

If I ran an NFL team, I would never draft a QB or a RB in the first three rounds.
Bill Polian and Ernie Accorsi will keep this advice in mind....

And your evidence for that is assertion is, what?

Age.

History.

History?
Two years ago, they went out in the second round of the playoffs to Denver.
Last year, they lost the AFC championship game in the final minute to the eventual world champions.
This year, they go 18-1, break every offensive record in the book, and lose the Super Bowl in the last half-minute.
Yeah, the historical trend is clear.

Age?
Outside of linebacker and left tackle, where?

I agree with F_B, but only if Moss still plays for NE. If Moss leaves, they will still be a playoff team, but not a 14-2, 15-1 type of team.

Replacing defensive players is not an impossible task. Pittsburgh does it every year or every other year it seems and still puts a good unit on the field.

Excellent points, 93d.
I think the most interesting question is whether or not they franchise Moss and how he takes to it.
That'll be the test of the new Randy Moss.

NFL teams are able to go 15-4 or 14-5 and still win the Super Bowl.
The Giants will be the most interesting to watch, to see if Strahan retires or anything like that shakes their chemistry up.
They have lots of younger talent there, though.
I think Pats will continue to be among the league's best records next season.

Patriots should also get Rosevelt Colvin back from a foot injury so if either Bruschi or Seau return (odds would be 1 of them decides to call it quits) they wouldn't be counted on as every down LB's like they both had to be in the second half and playoffs.
