I spent a lot of time covering football at that high school in a different life and still know a few people who were really shaken by this shooting.

I agree with the verdict but I am still surprised by it, as are the people I know in that community. I know it isn't the first case like this, but it definitely seems like a interesting precedent to set or reinforce.

The ODU ROTC cadets basically bum-rushed the shooter and choked him out.

The instructor who was murdered was a lieutenant colonel, who is typically the commander of an ROTC unit and on a retirement course. So sad.
