Well, the calendar says October, so that can only mean one thing: Christmas is coming!!!

And how do I know this? The local paper has an article today on the fact that one of the big-name candle shops has received their stock of holiday scented candles in time for the holiday season.

Oh joy.

I would like to know if I am in the minority here or if there are others out there who are fed up with all the Christmas stuff starting this early (Oct. 1 -- or earlier!!!) or if I am on the right track to be fed up with all this stuff happening this early.

I am not big on the Christmas holiday, I will admit, and all this stuff starting *this soon* contributes to my mood and attitude.

Curious to know who agrees/disagrees.

Try drugstores carrying Christmas stuff and Carlton Cards in mid July. Happened here in Halifax. Now that is scary...what were they expecting snow in July. I know our weather is crazy but COME ON!

I was called "Scrooge" all last Christmas season because I, a single dude who lived alone in a house he could barely afford if he didn't work two-full time jobs and only spent six hours a day in said house, four of which were sleeping, didn't buy a tree and decorate my house in Christmas droppings.

This year, I'm doing the same thing. Only I'll be doing it in a different place.

Expecting to hear a sports talk show Monday, I tuned in a local radio station and discovered it had started playing Christmas music around the clock.

In this case, though, they weren't jump-starting the holiday season. Actually they had just fired all their talk-show hosts and producers without warning because the big bosses had decided to change the station's format for the second time this year (after giving the talk shows only six months to find an audience). With the former employees safely evicted from the building, they've been secretly preparing their new format this week, to be unveiled Friday. In the meantime, the canned Christmas music is a stunt to keep the station on the air.
