From WrestlingObserver.com:

Byron "Dewey" Robertson, who gained his most fame as the Missing Link in several territories as well as WWE in the late 80s, passed away at 3:30 a.m. today at Henderson Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario after a year-long battle with cancer.

The death was not unexpected, as doctors did not expect him to live the night on Tuesday. Robertson was 68.

I thought this was about the ABC Cavemen series......

The flags have been lowered to half staff in Parts Unknown. :-[

I wonder if Marc Mero will try and add him to his list o' death... ::)

I met The Missing Link back in the '80s, when he was a pretty prominent WWF wrestler, on a short flight outta Memphis.

Dude was in coach, believe it or not. Not sure how he fit. Big, big guy. Had that Ernie Holmes-style haircut.

He was actually pretty engaging. When I told him I was a sportswriter, and it might make for a fun piece on the Weekend section, he said, no, no way, it wouldn't fit in with my image. They showed him cooking raw meat over an open flame, stuff like that, in a cave or something.

Said he played a little hockey back in the day.

RIP, Link.

Great story, JM.

The Link will definitely be missed on my end. I think I'll throw in a couple old UWF and World Class tapes tonight from his heyday and pay tribute...

Goodbye!

Oops...this is "The Missing Link"

Down goes another. 2007 has not been nice to professional wrestlers.

Dewey Robertson was a jobber in St. Louis when I was growing up. I never knew he was the Link. RIP.

Damn, Mayfly, you beat me to it. Every time I see this thread title I hear in my head, "You are the missing link. G'bye."

RIP

Saw The Link wrestle in person countless times at the Sportatorium in Dallas. He had one of the best gimmicks in wrestling at the time - and he was a good worker, too. Just finished reading his book a few weeks ago. Pretty interesting stuff in there for the diehard fan, including a section about him being homeless shortly after the end of his career. Truly one of my all-time favorites.

RIP
