As Jeremy Schaap put it, she was famous for one-third of American history.

Though seven years older than Shirley Temple, Abe Vigoda didn't appear on television or film until 17 years after Temple's first appearance.

Abe might be in the danger zone, with a birthday coming up in two weeks.

A child star who was married to one person for 55 years. That's seems pretty amazing in this day and age.

RIP

I guess we know now who will get the "hammer" position on the Oscars' "In Memoriam" segment.

Still PSH, don't you think? Suddenness, prime of life, cohort of so many active in Hollywood now, the "victim" context of his demise.

Nah, Shirley Temple was one of the people who "made" Hollywood. Plus, the Academy is largely made up of old people.

I think she gets the last spot.

A Shirley Temple over ice would not be an appropriate order at the bar today...

She married Charles Black in 1950, a marriage that lasted until his death in 2005 at age 86.

They seemed to leave that out.

Bi racial marriages were unusual in the 50's

"Victim" in quotation marks. Classy.

They being the person that wrote and edited that story unless I missed. it.

Shirley Temple the child actress is one of those things about American history I just don't get. Those movies were insanely popular, and when I watch them, I just think they're borderline insane examples of insipidness on the grand scale.
