Dammit, so sad. Rick and I were both on the Kings beat when he was with the L.A. Herald Examiner, took many road trips together. He owned the Kings beat back then. Just a real good guy. We lived not too far apart in West L.A. Age 71, same as me. RIP, Rick.

Heard it earlier tonight and sent to my Rocky colleagues. Read him a lot when I lived in SoCal.

Crushing news. Great writer. Great teammate. Always easy to work with from the desk. Made deadline. Easy to work with as an editor. Above all: Just a great guy.

Heartbroken tonight.
