Have known Randy as "say Hi along press row" guy for years.
Crossed paths with him early in my career.
Just saw him about six weeks ago at a UConn game. So sad to hear of this.

Randy was one of the great characters of Connecticut sports journalism. Nobody ever questioned the independence of his column writing and, boy, could he strike a nerve. The JI, at least when I was there, had more balls than any section in the state and Randy was pushing the envelope on a pretty regular basis. He had some legendary run-ins, too. Anyone remember him and Jack Evans going at it? It got physical at least once. I enjoyed working alongside Randy at the mall or having a drink with him at Chuck's.
