Lots of great takes that served to modernize characters. Definitely one of the all-time greats.
X-Factor #87, when the team goes and talks to a psychiatrist, is one of my favorite issues. No action at all, just a deep dive into the psyche of a fun team of superheroes and what makes each one tick.

I think you mean the New Frontier series? For an unabashed Star Trek fan, I was actually a late-comer to that series, but I remember how, the more I read -- about the continuing adventures of Captain Mackenzie Calhoun and the rest of an interesting crew of the Excalibur -- the more the series and its characters grew on me.

Among my other favorites by Peter David: Before Dishonor, a terrific book centered on the Borg, Seven of Nine and Voyager; and Imazadi, the wonderful backstory book on the relationship between Riker and Troi of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

RIP, Mr. David. And thank you.

Another comics icon is gone.
RIP Jim Shooter, the Marvel editor in chief for most of the 1980s. Bit of a controversial figure who rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, for a lot of reasons, but was still a key figure in the industry for a long, long time.
