Wasnt' Allen the inspiration for the Doonsebury storyline in which Duke coached the Redskins? As I remember it, the major theme was Duke's disregard for player safety and a liberal use of painkillers.

I always assumed that it was simply a “what if hunter s. Thompson ran the redskins” kind of deal. He actually makes a crack at Allen for trading all of the draft choices.
