RIP Niki Lauda

Sports Journalists Forum – Media, Newsroom & Reporting Talk

Help Support Sports Journalists Forum:

I was just reading something about him this morning around 2 AM. Wake up to this news.

Here’s the rabbit hole that I went down to find something about Lauda this morning:

Watched The Bridge At Remagen on Saturday
Started reading up on the movie, cast, etc.

Sunday I switched over to the stories of the US troops involved.

Monday I was on the battle’s wiki page. Early this morning, I saw this map:

What is that circular road connected to nothing in the center of that map?

Nürburgring

Down the rabbit hole. Read up on the track’s very interesting history, fights with the F1 circuit, and that Niki Lauda had a bad crash there and got burned.

Wake up this morning, and RIP.

Just rather bizarre to be reading about him this morning after personally not hearing his name for nearly 20 years.

Spooky.

I've only been to Nürburgring once and it was for a music festival (Rock am Ring) in the 1990s. The whole Moseltal region is extremely scenic.
