She might just make it after all.

Yeah, I merged our threads, we started at about the same time.
Locked another, deleted another one where someone was trying to be funny.

Don't do that. Don't have time or energy for that bull**** today.

I was the guy trying to be funny. Sorry about that. More of a commentary of the three threads appearing at once. Carry on ... RIP Mary.

Outlived by Ed Asner, who looked 80 on the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Asner was just on one of the CSI shows the other night. Holding up damn good for a big chunky guy in his mid 80s.

MTM had health struggles but lived a long and very productive life. Absolutely an icon for my whole generation (late boomers / Gen X/ Gen Jones)

And it certainly must also be mentioned: **** Van Dyke survives.

I realize you meant no harm - but you know what would have happened. We would have ended up with 10 of those things, each one less funny than the last. I figured 3 or 4 would pop up right away, that always happens with a big-name death.
Carry on

The Mary Tyler Moore Show is on MeTV Sunday nights and underrated as hell. I'm guessing this will result in a marathon one day this week.

Yeah, the whole front page would have been variations on "Mary Tyler Moore, Dead, Still Dead, Deader Than Dead," etc etc etc etc.

The MTM Show has benefited from drifting out of heavy teevee rotation for a while. A lot of the old shows get monotonous if they're on all the time.

Then they seem fresh when you see them again.

Damn, damn, damn. 2017 isn't starting any better than 2016 ended.

Along with her comedy success, thought she was terrific (though not very likable) in a dramatic role as the mom in Ordinary People.

That cast has some longevity, Asner, Gavin McLeod, Cloris Leachman, Valerie Harper and, of course, Betty White, all still around.

RIP namesake.

**** Van Dyke still kicking at 91. That was another great show. I loved it when Morey Amsterdam would get on Mel's ass.
Morey Amsterdam's wife in the show (not sure we ever saw her) was named??? AND NO GOOGLING!!

Sundance TV, or what ever it is called, airs several episodes back-to-back one morning every week. I enjoyed the program when I was a kid and have enjoyed watching reruns lately. Wish my satellite provider had MeTV. My understanding is The Fugitive runs (pun intended) there. As it is, RIP to a lady who seemed to be a classy dame.

Ted Knight left us a little too early, but agree, that's a strong run.

MTM was also a heavy smoker for a long while.
