RIP Marlin Briscoe

Former AFL QB and WR, the first black QB in NFL/AFL history when he started a game for Denver in 1968. Nicknamed "the Magician" for good reason, he was exciting to watch.

Exactly the type of guy who, if he played today, would have been battling for a starting QB job, no questions asked.

In 1968, questions were asked. Runner-up for AFL Rookie of the Year in '68; the Broncos didn't let him compete for the starting job in '69 camp.

IIRC he eventually became a pretty good receiver, too
