My mom inexplicably loved her perfume. I'd make her put it on outside the car because it made me gag.

But I got a great pink trench at an LC outlet last year. RIP, Ms. Claiborne.

She brought reasonably good design to reasonably-priced department-store clothes.

Last few years saw a precipitous dip, though, as the design plan seemed geared to just-above-Wal-Mart pastel stretchy pants ladies.

Her company also had a great line of men's clothes. Wasn't huge but well thought out.

My favourite summer suit is a Claiborne. (They didn't call their men's line "Liz Claiborne"--for obvious reasons.
