RIP Harry Reid

If these things run in threes, with John Madden and Harry Reid dying on the same day I have a feeling the third person to go today will be whoever was almost finished laying out Wednesday's Las Vegas Review-Journal.

I appreciate Harry Reid’s background and his life story, but is it fair to say that he was underwhelming as a Senate majority leader? Surely above Schumer, but not on the Mount Rushmore of top Democrats to hold that spot.

Him telling Obama that he wasn’t temperamentally cut out for the Senate long term and that he should run in 2008 was achievement enough.

Remember going through his hometown once on a trip to Vegas. In a three-block stretch, the speed limit went from 40 to 30 to 20. And that's all I got for now.

Great point. I didn't make the connection initially, but Vegas is a Raider town these days.

I was in the same room with him once. He came over and shook my hand. Seemed to be a nice man.

Has someone checked in on Burnt Hamburger?

Not to be more morbid on this lousy day, but I've wondered about Brent. Doesn't seem like he's on VSiN hardly at all anymore and he gave up his Friday afternoon picks segment with Mad Dog Russo on Sirius, which was a breezy 15 minutes that I always enjoyed. So maybe about all he's doing is Raiders radio, and that can't be great for his health.

Damn. Harry Reid was just so synonymous with the Dems for such a stretch of my post college/politically aware life. Did some great things, but also some things that I wish he could take back given our current climate. But a titan nonetheless.

RIP, Sir.

He's doing great on the broadcasts. A great listen. Not afraid to admit when the Raiders are struggling and don't have it. My favorite line from the most recent game. "The Raiders offense needs to stop making adjustments at the line and just run the damn play!"

I totally read that quote in his voice.
