RIP Cyd Charisse

Help Support Sports Journalists Forum:

Friend of mine worked for a radio station that was helping promote a nightclub appearance by Cyd and Tony Martin in the '70s.

The station gave away tickets and a few of the lucky winners got to go backstage to meet the stars. They go backstage after the show, led by the proud station GM and his wife, and they're standing outside the dressing room door, very excited. Cyd and Tony's manager goes into the dressing room and raised voices can be heard through the door. Then a woman's voice is heard very clearly shouting, "I told you I have a ****ing headache. I am going back to the hotel and I am not going to talk to those ****ing people."

The lucky winners got to meet Tony Martin.

As brief as it is, her appearence in Singin' in the Rain is simply amazing.

Cyd Charisse may be one of the five most beautiful -- and elegant -- women in film history.

Always loved her as Fiona in Brigadoon.

Understand Brigadoon is in the revival pipeline for Broadway.

Can't happen soon enough.

Good music and literate lyrics. Who'da thunk it?

Brigadoon is also on TCM right now. Want a laugh? Find yours truly somewhere in the Northeast, singing along with either "I'll Go Home With Bonnie Jean" or the Harry Beaton chase scene.
