He was from New Mexico (son of a journalist and doctor).

Diff'rent Strokes and Facts of Life are such a good memory -- Friday nights, school done for the week, popcorn, etc. I think they moved Facts of Life after a bit.

Those kids' sitcoms don't much exist anymore.

It's really true... I can't think of anything on the networks that I would want my kids to watch...

There's a show on Disney Channel called Jesse that is sort of a combination of Diff'rent Strokes, Webster, Silver Spoons and Mr. Belvedere. My kids love it.

We did like iCarly but it seems like that's pretty old now ... boys also liked Drake & Josh a few years ago.

anyway, maybe it's just my more discerning eye now, but I don't think those shows hold a candle to the choices we had growing up.

Watched most of those... Too young for Gilligan's Island and never heard of Love, Sidney. Watched Brady Bunch in syndication...

Like newspapers, they're ignoring the future customers.

RIP Mr. Drummond, who I'll always remember for one of the more touching scenes on TV that has always stayed with me. The scene where Willis' drunken friend dies in a car accident, Willis starts crying and says he feels like a little boy for crying, and Mr. D. says, "No son, you're crying like a man."

Which plot device was used more often, Gilligan screwing up a potential escape from "Gilligan's Island" or a MASSIVE misunderstanding about who is having sex with whom on "Three's Company?"
