The last of the main cast of “Once Upon A Time In The West” is no more. The best movie ever made.
I love her character from the film. Morally ambiguous, even more so than most treatises on the film ever note. She could have gone good or bad depending on the conditions. As it is, she knows Henry Fonda is a psycho who would turn on her at a moment’s notice. She eventually throws her lot in with Charles Bronson and Jason Robards.
While her final scenes in Once Upon A Time In The West are remarkable, it’s her leitmotif in the film that is unforgettable.
“Jill’s Theme” from the film is on Ennio Morricone’s Mount Rushmore, which means it’s one of the best pieces of music ever recorded.
This scene is awe-inspiring. It hit me like a drug the first time I saw it.
Big RIP to Claudia Cardinale.
