Never was a big fan of their music and the rap-rock genre it came from in that era, but I also didn't always like the criticism of Linkin Park's music. There was always a pithy waiving of the hand at the wailing lyrics, but you could always sense the angst — at least from him — was real. Unfortunately, that appears to be the case. It seemed pretty therapeutic for a lot of teenagers and I tried to respect that music from that angle, even if I didn't want to listen to it myself.

I remember reading in the last year or so that the band started a venture capital group and invested in Lyft really early, and I thought that was really interesting.

Never much liked their music. "In the End" is one of the most depressing songs you hear on the regular.
 
Linkin Park caught me at just the right time in late high school/early college where I felt their overall emo feel mixed with heavy metal and rap truly "spoke to me," all of which was just silly teen angst from a white kid from an upper-middle class family. But still, I loved Hybrid Theory and still know some of their songs by heart. Remains the kind of music that, when I hear it, takes me back to a very specific time and place.
 
Due in New York next week with Blink 182. Sad stuff, I hate to see this.

And some of you are on your way out. Time for you to get a life outside the board. What I saw here was disgusting.
 
Was never a fan but saw them as part of Metallica's Summer Sanitarium tour in 2003 and enjoyed their set way more than I thought I would

Wasn't into the scene by the time LP hit, but they were considered one of the better hybrids, right?
 
I got it brother.

A 41-year-old young man, a father to SIX, killed himself. Let's keep the conversation on that and go from there. The other thing will be dealt with and, as I've seen on Twitter a lot in recent moments, please get help if you need it before you resort to this.

Same here. My junior year/senior year of high school had a perfect wave of angsty rock with Orgy, Linkin Park, some of Korn's music and a few others. Like I said earlier, Hybrid Theory was on a loop in my car until I crashed my car and I was truly sad because my angsty music was lost in the crash. (Cue @QYFW's nerd call :p).

Then I rediscovered my obsession with Metallica and all was well.
 
I was pretty tired of the rock/rap mashups by the time they did their's with Jay-Z but absolutely loved that EP.

I am a little surprised that the rock-rap craze took so long to really get going after Run DMC's remake of Aerosmith's Walk This Way
