RIP Budd Lynch

Budd, 95, was the Detroit Red Wings' public address announcer and previously broadcast Wings' games with Bruce Martyn - they were a great team. Budd is in the Hockey Hall of Fame - a great announcer who was a charitable guy. He held an annual golf outing.

He certainly will be missed in the Detroit area. He really was the voice of Joe Louis Arena.

He had a sense of humor about having one arm - the other was blown off while serving in the Canadian military in World War II.

I'm quite sure the Wings will have some sort of tribute once this stupid lockout ends.

RIP to an icon. Don't think the story mentioned it, but Mr. Lynch also did some national hockey work on CBS.

Time marches on. Oh, the memories of listening to "The Great Voice of the Great Lakes" with Bruce, Sid, then Paul.

Sad times on the Detroit sports scene.

Sad day, indeed. He was up there with Ernie Harwell. He'll be missed greatly.

Lived a lot, even for 95 years, and never had a bad word for anyone. He'll be missed.
